Pop art is an art movement that emerged in the mid-1950s, predominantly in the UK and US. As a response to abstract painting, it became the dominant artistic form of expression in the '60s in the US and parts of Europe.
Pop art responds to the world of consumption of mass metropolitan culture disseminated through the media. As Richard Hamilton, one of the very first pop artists, said in 1957, "Pop art is: popular (...) mass produced, young (...), witty, sexy, gimmicky, glamorous, big business."
Foxx Gallery was founded October 13th, 1993. As an exclusive partner to Walt Disney and Warner Bros. Studios, Foxx Gallery helped to place animation art as an artistic form of expression of the 20th century in Switzerland.
Then Foxx Gallery exhibited 3-D works of internationally reknowed American artists like Charles Fazzino and James Rizzi as well as paintings by neo-pop artist Romero Britto.
From 1996, owner Claudine Francine Bandi, extended the gallery's range further with pop art "made in Europe", with artists such as Jörg Döring, Volker Kühn and DASCH. Through the successful choice of new artists and their orientation the gallery has been able to broaden it's offering of multiples and exclusive editions to originals.
Foxx Gallery now boasts several hundred works by Europe's best-known artists and the best of the US pop and neo-pop art. Claudine Bandi has a regular and personal contact with each of the artists.
